Highlights
The past few years have shown a lot of creativity and ingenuity. While not all the events were captured here, you can see some of their better accomplishments. Congratulations to everyone!!
Pinatas
Spanish 2 (2011) made some amazing pinatas. They made Mr.Abels' face, a narwhal, angry bird, fancy penguin and several other creative pieces. Covering the balloon with paper-mache, then painting, gluing, and attaching all sorts of artsy decorations, the class did a phenomenal job, as you can well see.
The Question Wall
Our open Bible forum had so many questions, that we decided to open it up to the entire class. Several questions were selected and students from the Bible class (as well as my other Spanish classes and study halls) answered them. Some with good biblical references, some just creatively. On the whole we learned a lot from each other. Nice job everyone!
Empanadas
To start off the 2011 year, Spanish 3 made traditional Argentine Empanadas. The class followed a recipe from a magazine in Buenos Aires, brought in the materials and spent the day cooking. All of the directions, Señor Abels' advice, and class were in Spanish (except for the occasional "What did he say?"). In one day everyone had time to roll, cut, fill, bake, clean up and start a web-page on how to do it! Here are some of the pictures of the day.
Creative Vocabulary
Spanish 3 found some creative ways to incorporate new vocabulary. From acting out a short skit with (most of) their lines memorized, playing a board game by creating sentences out of chapter vocabulary, to a short internet scavenger hunt of Chilean activities, they each worked through almost 100 words. Blessed with a short rain halfway through the class, they had a great time and used a lot of language. Great job everyone!
